Hey Neill, just wanted to let you know I really like this painting. It seems like an interesting transition that you've made from this work to your most recent and just wondered how that came about? Best, Seamus
Hi Seamus. Sorry for the delay in replying, I haven't been on the blog much recently. Busy life etc.
I suppose over the last few years a number of significant changes have taken place. There has been a move away from depicting objects in space (as this painting does) towards more minimal imagery and a more pared down method. Empty landscapes have a lot of connotations and linen and jute are both heavy with meaning. I am enjoying the succinctness of little watercolours. They are basic... almost nothing. Easy to dismiss in a way. There is an absurdity to them. I like this.
